WEATHER PREDICTION FOR 6/16/13
FATHER’S DAY
The rain gauge had .2 inches of rain last night.  I find that to be fortunate considering a day before they were talking about over an inch.  So we dodge a bullet yesterday & today’s forecast is nothing of significance.  Between 5am-9am the chance of rain is in the 20%’s and then it’s in the 40’s from 10am-12pm at which time the risk of rain leaves the area.  Total rain that we would potentially get is around a quarter inch which would not affect the status on carts.

#1 Fairway

Happy Father’s Day and good luck Mr. Phil Mickelson.

Weather Prediction June 15th, 2013

FATHER’S DAY EVE
The 2.5 inches of rain this week has left the course wet, as we once again play catch up on bunker repair, mowing banks & rough, & debris cleanup.  Yesterday (Friday) the club experienced an excellent day with numerous golfers and a course that represented itself quite well considering the amount of cleanup and pumping we did on Thursday to get the course into shape.  Today’s forecast is somewhat a crap shoot but from 6am-10am the forecast is in the 20-30% range with an increase into the 40% till around 12pm where they go into the 60’s around midday before decreasing to 20-30%.  I am hopeful that the southside might get missed but it seems the target has been on our back for much of the past 2-3 weeks.

Here is a pre Happy Father’s Day wish to all the Father’s out there and praying that Mother Nature allows me to enjoy my Father’s Day with dry socks, a fishing pole in my hand, & my kids.

Miss Bass Master!
Father's Day dinner, not!

Our luck has to change at some point doesn’t it?

Rain Rain Go Away Come Back When We Need It

Add another 1.8 inches onto what has been an incredibly wet spring.  It hasn't been favorable for the golfer or the grounds crew but as diehards we keep on keeping on.  The storm last night brought some high winds which left quite a mess.  The day was spent cleaning greens, tees, & fairways & pumping water from the bunkers and the usual turf areas.

Debris throughout the course is very time consuming to cleanup.
After 12 hours of pumping, the water receded on 15 fairway but water still had 8 tee surrounded and 11 fairway still was in need of a bridge to cross its river.

#17 green shows the amount of water and damage that took place with yet another rain event.

#12 island green

All the rain this spring makes me think #11 fairway is a tributary to Butterfield Creek.

With the wet spring it seems #8 tee has been surrounded by water more often than not.

I am hopeful that the night time will be the right time for the water to exit to Butterfield Creek.

Weather Prediction June 1st, 2013

WEATHER PREDICTION FOR 6/1/13
The national weather center has given a more positive outlook than yesterday stating that a majority of the rain should be south of Chicago.  Well, we are south of Chicago so hopefully they are referring to Kankakee.  The rain overnight has moved east so that is a positive and with a forecast from 8am-12pm in the 20-30% range with an increase into the 40% till around 3pm where they go into the 60’s and continue to increase through the early evening hours.  I am hopeful that the trend of going south of us will continue and we get some decent golfing weather.

Better than yesterday morning but still way to many (everywhere) wet areas to allow carts.

There will be no carts allowed this morning but will reevaluate throughout the morning and decide on the remainder of the day 10-11am.  We have had 3.65 inches since Sunday night with .4 inches of those just clearing the area.  The turf yesterday was overly saturated but we did see improvement throughout the day.
