Course Clean Up From the Winter

The winter months can leave alot of debris and sometimes surprises once the snow recedes.  This winter didn't create any surprises but per normal the winter left plenty of debris.  As of today, we have raked/cleaned about 60% of the rough and have begun the cleanup of the green, tee, & fairway surfaces.  The weather forecast is less than idea as compared to the last few springs but the weather seems to be showing signs of awakening.  Here are a few scenes from the last few days.

We will continue to move forward with Spring cleanup and preparing the course for its opening.  I will be updating the Blog & Twitter daily as things move forward with hopes of some positive news.

The tree work for the winter has been complete.  The only remaining step is to add soil to the stump holes and seed and/or sod.

Butterfield Creek Cleanup & Dead Tree Removals

Some tree removals are tricky with the water in play.  To cold for a swim!

Rain & Snow Melt Leads to Flooding.

The warmer weather along with the rain has lead to rapid snow melt.  This scenario brings with it numerous areas on the course that are flooded.  Butterfield Creek is still within its banks but not sure if it has crested.  I prefer to see the course soak it up before any more rain and/or snow.  While this current weather pattern is not beneficial to golfer play, I want to believe the weather will turn for the better and the course will be open sooner than later.

Tree Removals & Cleanup!

The tree removals are complete for this winter but got a good video & pics of some sizable logs.  While I realize the Emerald Ash Borer is going to keep us busy removing Ash trees over the next few years, I hope we can take a break from the tree work and start maintaining some turf soon.  Here is to warmer weather and an early spring.
